Faith Life Journey

“Who will journey this path with me?”

I wondered to myself, staring down the lonely road splitting the desert before me in two.

All the praise in the world could not lift my spirits for my current self could not contain the joy being offered.

What lay ahead, I could not tell you – but resigning myself to the journey ahead, I took a step… and then another…

“Jesus answered, ‘How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them?  They cannot, so long as they have him with them.  But the time will come when the bridgroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.  No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment.  Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse.  And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.  Otherwise, the win will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined.  No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.” Mark 2:19 – 22

The joy of resting in the presence of God is undeniable.

And that is what Jesus is explaining to us in this passage.  Enjoy the times we have with Him.

Eat full in His presence, because there will be times when we do not feel Him near.

Times when we want desperately to be filled up and made whole, but our weary souls scarce contain the joy being offered to us on a daily basis.

In the middle of our tragedy, we long for the companionship of a friend.  Someone or something to fill us up – give us new life.

Yet, when we experience that ‘person’ or ‘thing’ it spills right out of us because we cannot contain it in our current state…

Faith, Life and the Adventurous Journey

The thing is, in our current state, we could never hope to find a real sense of fulfillment.

It is only when Christ makes in us a new being that we can experience the fullness of His joy.

Christ cannot pour life into us until He makes us new, and as He makes us new, He pours life into us.

It is an adventurous journey – one filled with ups, downs, and all kinds of sideways.

Are you willing to take that journey with me?
